It used to be thought when Snowy Owls invaded the states from the high arctic that food scarcity was what drove them and many must then be starving. Now we know it to be just the opposite. In years of prey abundance, populations explode, and after fledging, many of the youngsters migrate south. This one made Rye Harbor its home for most of last winter. |
